Our CEO'S top tips for a first time speed dater!

For a first-time speed dater it's completely normal to feel a tad nervous so, I have 8 awesome tips to help you make the most of the experience:

1. Be Yourself: It's essential to be authentic and genuine during speed dating. Be confident in who you are and what you bring to the table (pun intended). Let your true personality shine as this will help you make meaningful connections with potential matches.

2. Dress to Impress: First impressions matter, so make sure to dress appropriately and present yourself well. Choose an outfit that makes you feel confident and comfortable, reflecting your personal style.

3. Prepare Conversation Starters: Come prepared with a few interesting conversation starters or questions to break the ice. It could be something about their hobbies, work, or even a fun fact that sparks their interest. Engaging in meaningful conversation will help you learn more about your dates.

4. Focus on Active Listening: Show genuine interest in what your date is saying by actively listening. Maintain eye contact and respond thoughtfully, as this conveys that you are genuinely interested in getting to know them.

5. Stay Positive and Open-Minded: Keep a positive mindset throughout the event. Remember that not every match will be perfect, but every interaction is an opportunity to learn and connect. Stay open-minded and approach each date with curiosity.

6. Practice Time Management: Speed dating is all about efficient time management. Each date is typically brief, so make sure to use your time wisely. Ask important questions early on to determine if you share common interests or values.

7. Take Breaks: Speed dating can use up a fair bit of energy for first -timers so, feel free to use the drinking breaks or any gaps (due to last minute uneven gender ratios) as a chance to relax and refocus. Grab a drink, take a deep breath, and gather yourself before moving onto the next interaction.

8. Follow Up: After the event, take the initiative to follow up with anyone you may have matched with and would like to get to know better. Send a polite message expressing your interest and ask if they would like to go out on a longer date. This shows your willingness to take things forward.

Remember, speed dating and dating in general should be fun! So, stay positive, and enjoy the experience!
